In tech history...can you hear me now?
Remember the date! October 13, 1983, exactly 25 years ago this month as we tell you a scary story!
Imaging you live in 1983. Now take the phone out of your pocket and look at it very carefully. Is it brand new? Is it a junker? How much did it cost you?
Now......compare it to this baby, the Motorola DynaTac. You think $1000 for an iPhoneX is bad? Try $4000 in 1983 dollars (that's just north of $10K in today's money folks!) AND NO SCREEN! What horror!
In all seriousness, on October 13, 1983, Ameritech Mobile Communications executive Bob Barnett made a phone call from a car parked near Soldier Field in Chicago, officially launching the first commercial cellular network in the United States. Way to go Bob! Next step - 5G!
